From Mark's experience as a Medicare fraud whistleblower joining forces with the US Dept of Justice on a massive case in which he was instrumental in recovering a record-setting $35 million for Medicare & Washington state to his experiences designing and building his own custom view home, Mark brings a unique perspective, set of skills, and resources to ensure that his clients are well taken care of with no stone left unturned.

 

Mark worked in a compliance role as an Internal Auditor for two private companies that provided billing/administrative duties for a major US hospital. When his protests of billing irregularities (from ghost procedures to fee sheets containing only the highest paying codes and more) went unheeded, he became aware of a larger scheme when he was ordered to alter and shred his audits showing overbilling in numerous departments going back years. Coming from a family with numerous teaching physicians and medical researchers (his grandfather was also the Health Officer for the State of Oregon for 15 years), he knew he had to do the right thing. Having reached out to the Office of the Inspector General, Mark also hired a top law firm with experience in health care fraud. He worked out of the US Attorney's Office in Seattle for over three years with agents from the Dept. of Health & Human Services, Medicare (CMS), the FBI, Tricare (US Military) and state investigators, and their collaborative work eventually led to a $35 Million recovery and the first criminal convictions for a PATH-type investigation.
